Happy Fourth of July! Celebrating America’s 250th Birthday

This year feels especially meaningful because America is celebrating her 250th birthday. For the past several weeks I’ve found myself thinking about how grateful I am to live in a country where I can write the stories I want to write, publish them, and then share them with wonderful readers like you.

That really is an incredible blessing.

I also get to read books that make me laugh, cry, and fall in love. Stories have always been a huge part of my life, and I don’t ever want to take for granted the freedom we have to create them, publish them, and enjoy them.

A few weeks ago, I signed up for a challenge to walk 250 miles in 45 days. That worked out to about 11,000 steps every single day.

I’m not going to pretend it was easy.

There were plenty of mornings when I looked at my walking shoes and thought, “Not today.”

Whenever I started talking myself out of it, though, I reminded myself why I had signed up in the first place. I wasn’t doing it because I love walking. I was doing it because I love America, and I wanted to put my gratitude into motion.

So I’d lace up my shoes, get my bum out the door, and start walking. I was always glad I went.

As I was thinking about that this week, it reminded me of our Operation: 250 Years reader challenge.

Yes, it asks you to do a few things. You might read a book, answer a fun question, recruit a friend, or complete one of our weekly missions. It takes a little effort. And yes, there are some pretty great prizes along the way.

The best part is that we’re celebrating America’s 250th birthday together, and I think 250 years deserves more than a single day of celebration so we’re running this contest all month!

Join Operation: 250 Years

Every mission you complete earns you points toward some wonderful prizes, including:

  • All four Black Ops Tag military romantic comedies
  • A Black Ops Tag T-shirt

  • A few surprise goodies

Start Reading with Andy

If you haven’t read the Black Ops Tag series yet, there’s no better place to start than with Andy.

Andy is determined to win a secret game of tag his military buddies have been playing for years. The only problem is that the beautiful wedding planner keeps getting in his way. Between hilarious pranks, unexpected romance, and a wedding that may or may not survive the weekend, this story is guaranteed to leave you smiling.

START READING ANDY

Thank you for reading my books. Thank you for encouraging me to keep writing. Thank you for making it possible for me to do something I truly love.

I hope your Fourth of July weekend is filled with family, good food, laughter, and maybe even a great book.

Happy Independence Day!

Love,

Lucy McConnell
