We have a map!

Dear Reader,

One of the things that made writing in the Billionaire Bachelor Cove series was how real the neighborhood became to all of us. Maybe that was due to the fact that we have a map of The Cove.

20190111_163824

The Beast’s lot is way up in the left corner. What you can’t see on this map is the slope of the land. The beach is much lower than the lake on the right. And there are hills and such that wind though the area. It’s quite big, with each lot being over 13 acres. You’ll notice that there are a few empty lots in there–don’t worry, they’ll be filled in. 🙂

If you’d like to take a trip to The Cove, you can check out the first book in the series by clicking here.

Happy reading,

The Reviews are in!

Dear Reader,

The reviews for “Her Beast of a Billionaire Boss” are rolling in! Check out what readers have to say:

“I should state that Beauty and the Beast is my all time favorite Disney fairytale and this book stuck to that theme, but in a new and creative way. I loved it soooo much!”

BeastBillionaireBoss_CVR_XSMLOne of the most flattering reviews I’ve ever gotten came in the other day.  I teared up after reading it! Thank you anonymous Amazon reviewer!

“… this book is delightful. This is the story Disney’s live action Beauty and the Best should have been.”

“This is a good story, a update of Beauty and the Beast, fast paced with enough twists to keep it interesting. What makes it stand out is that the characters are excellent: not only Adam and Bella but the supporting cast as well. Looks like the beginning of a fun new series.”

Thank you to everyone who has bought (and reviewed!) HER BEAST OF A BILLIONAIRE BOSS. Your support is overwhelming!!

Her Beast of a Billionaire Boss is Available!

Dear Reader,

Many, many months ago, I joined up with several authors for a new series. We met in Seattle, Washington, for an intense planning meeting and research trip. We had a great time touring the town and eating delicate chocolates as we planned out a neighborhood of billionaires. Yep, a whole neighborhood. But this neighborhood is unlike any out there. It’s a playground for the ultra-wealthy. They build homes that fit their personalities and live on 20+ acres of land. They have 24/7 security. And, a private landing strip for their planes.

From left to right: Amberlee Day, Holly Stevenson, Christene Houston, Chelsea Hale, Lucy McConnell, Maria Hoagland, and Erica Penrod.

Well, fast forward several months and it’s release week for my new book. I have been waiting and waiting for this book to release and the anticipation was killing me Thankfully, I can finally celebrate with you.

Bringing it together

Writing this book was a beautiful experience. I’ve had the idea for a lawyer Beast who lives in a castle on the coast since I saw the live action Beauty and the Beast movie. However, as life often happens, being able to write this book didn’t happen on my time. Now that it’s ready, though, I see how it all came together and I’m so happy I waited. This is how it starts out.

Just outside the city of Seattle, a castle sits on a cliff overlooking Puget Sound. The Chateau has perched there since a French prince was removed to the wilds of America for loving the wrong woman. However, the prince was not one to hide in the shame forced upon him. He built himself a grand castle on a large estate, where he raised a happy family and amassed a considerable fortune.

Years went by, and the castle and the land passed from one generation to another until it reached the prince’s great-great-grandson, Adam Moreau, a corporate lawyer who was known for tearing apart his competition in the courtroom. His grandfather had taken the considerable fortune and turned it into ridiculous wealth, which meant young Adam wanted for nothing—nothing but the opportunity to prove himself a Moreau in every sense of the name. Unfortunately, as the coffers grew with each generation, the love that had brought the family to the rocky cliffside dwelling dwindled, and Adam was left with the incorrect assumption that love is a weakness. After all, a lawyer couldn’t afford sentimentality. His cunning ways and fierce legal attacks earned him many nicknames, but only one lasted the test of time: the Beast.

Our story begins on a cold and drizzly winter Washington day when even the brilliant colors of changing leaves have been pushed aside by a muted overcast sky and gloominess. Adam, in a move prompted purely by the increase in his financial standing, has subdivided a portion of the family estate and turned it into an exclusive development for billionaires called The Cove. As all but three of the lots have sold and the eclectic group of homes nears completion, he’d like to open Phase II. However, local politicians are hesitant to allow the rezoning of some of the city’s longtime wooded areas.

At the suggestion of his Public Relations Advisor, Adam invites Seattle’s most influential people, including the mayor, the city council, and the members of the zoning commissioning, into his castle for lunch. He’s counting on wooing them with fine foods and perhaps intimidating them with the heavily guarded gate into The Cove, the solid stone castle walls, and his own reputation as the nation’s most formidable attorney. If all goes well, the provincials will leave their doubts and Phase II may begin posthaste. For who could ever resist the Beast?

Meet Bella Creer

Woman in front of airplane

Bella Creer approached the hospital bed, not wanting to wake up her father but needing to see his chest rise and fall with her own eyes. Her Superman looked old. Gray whiskers graced his lined cheeks, and his pale skin was sallow in the dim light. He stirred and took a deep breath before opening his eyes. “Bella,” he rasped.

She reached for the cup on the side table and offered him a drink. The water went down with a large gulp and he sighed with relief, licking his dry lips. She’d stop by the gift shop and find some ChapStick for him before coming back up. “Hey, Dad.”

He reached for her hand. “I’m in trouble, baby girl.”

“No, Dad,” she hurried to reassure him. “The doctor says your heart is going to be fine.”

“No.” He chuckled weakly. “I’m in trouble at work.”

She leaned closer. “Dad, work is hardly your main concern right now. Let’s just worry about getting you better.”

“Listen to me. I’m under contract to finish The Cove on time, or I’ll lose everything.” Dad sank deeper into his pillows.

“What do you mean, everything?”

“I’ve poured everything into this contract and agreed to wait for payment until the project is complete. And if I don’t finish on time, I don’t get paid.”

Bella gasped. “That’s how you beat the other firms.”

He nodded slightly, the movement crinkling the pillow. “You have to finish it for me.” His grip on her hand tightened. “You’re the only one I trust.”

“Dad—I can’t just—” She cut off. Ten hours ago, she had several reasons she couldn’t drop everything and run up to The Cove. Ten hours ago, she had a fiancé and a third-tier job as an assistant legal clerk. Dad had worked on this project for a couple of years; it was in the background of her life but near the center of his. She should have paid more attention—especially when he went to work for the Beast. The man ran in a completely different circle, a circle that was so far out of her reach it might as well have been on Pluto.

Could she just up and quit? She hadn’t even bothered to call the office and tell them why she hadn’t come back from lunch. In truth, the work was boring and the people were cold. Leaving would be a relief.

Her heart fluttered at the idea of taking over the multibillion-dollar project. If she put her nose to the grindstone and didn’t look up for twenty years, she may still never have the chance to take on a project like this one. And to be able to say she worked for Adam Moreau? That was huge for a résumé. Any law firm in the country would look twice—his reputation was stellar. She’d have to Google him to learn more—all she really knew of him was that she should run the other way if ever his name was opposite hers on a case.

Her eyes fell on her father, who could hardly keep his eyes open. All the reasons she should do this for herself paled in comparison to doing it for her father. He’d given up the fast lane when her mother died so she’d have a parent home at night to help with her science projects and pack a lunch in the morning. He’d made a good life for them, one full of love and mental challenge. He was her champion, and this was an opportunity to be a champion for him.

“I’ll do it.” She pressed a kiss to his forehead. “You get some rest and know that I’ll take care of everything.”

Welcome 2019!

Dear Readers,

I’ve spent the last week looking at calendars, reviewing the series on my bookshelf and finding holes, and thinking about you and what you’d like to read in 2019. I have BIG plans for the upcoming year and I’m thrilled to share them with you!

New Series

Beginning this January, I’ll be releasing the first book in the Billionaire Bachelor Cove series.

Coffee.png

The premise for this series is new and fun. Imagine a housing development created for billionaires. Well, when I say development, I mean a secluded cove with a beach on the lower end of things and a lake up in the hills—over 100 acres of property divided between 20 lots. There are two security stations, two lots for valet parking for parties, a fourteen-foot high iron gate at the entrance, a caretaker’s cottage, a dock, and a private airfield.

New Genre

My kids are all big readers. My two youngest are in 5th and 6th grade. The hardest thing ab

SVH

out their love of reading is finding age appropriate books in their reading level. My daughter, 10, is growing quickly and before I know it will want to read books about flirting and dating and high school romance. I’ve received several emails over the last year asking me to recommend clean YA books for your daughters. So, I’m going to dip my toes into the YA market.

As a teenager, I was a huge fan of the Sweet Valley High books!

(This one is available here.)

Jessica and Elizabeth were so much fun to read about and kept me coming back for more. Hopefully, by the time my Roo is ready to read these books, I’ll have enough to keep her busy for a while.

Bringing back your favorites

The-Corporate-Groom-Kindle.jpg

As it often does, my mind has been stewing over the next book in the Billionaire Marriage Broker series. Thanks for all your emails and ideas this last year. I’ve com

piled a list of them and they help so much when I’m brainstorming. Keep your eyes peeled for the next book—hint, it’s going to be a groom.

The Dating Mr. Baseball series hasn’t gotten enough attention in 2018; but I plan to remedy that in 2019. I have outlines and ideas for four books, although, three is a more realistic goal. The first one is called “Intentional Walk.” It’s about a pitcher and a woman he will soon find is his angel.

Finally, I would like to write another MyHeartChannel book. I need to play around with ideas for a channel. If you have any, I’d be happy to hear them. I haven’t started writing or outlining yet. This book is just a wish on a star at the moment.

Reading Looks Good on You

I love, LOVE!, book swag. Book swag is fun items—tee shirts, mugs, bracelets, book marks, pins and etc.—based on books.

And now, Gelato Publishing has an Etsy site dedicated to book swag. It’s called Reading Looks Good on You and features all sorts of fun items. They have everything from gifts for book clubs to full outfits based around book series.

Brag about Your Book Boyfriend

I’ve already ordered a tee shirt for the Billionaire Bachelor Cove series, a bracelet for the same series, and a MyHeartChannel hoodie in red. I’ll post a picture when they arrive. If you love swag too, you can check out the site by clicking here.

Instagram

I’m now on Instagram! I hosted several contests in December and had so much fun that I’d like to do it all again. Check out my page at LucyMcConnellBooks and follow me so you’ll see the contest posts. The last one was for a $25 Amazon gift card. FREE BOOK MONEY!

Meet you on Facebook

I’ve done several television appearances and been an extra in a movie but I’ve never done a Facebook Live event. Well, that’s about to change. This year, I’m going to go live so I can meet you! Follow me on Facebook and let’s meet up to talk about books, writing, characters, chocolate, puppies, kittens and more. I’ll bring along a few author friends every now and then and we’ll make it a party.

Looking Ahead

I know it’s a long list of new things and big ideas, but I’m not worried about it because this is going to be a great year. And so many of these goals are fun because I get to do them with readers. Most of my favorite people are readers. So let’s jump into 2019 and make it the best year yet! If you have any ideas for series or books that you’d like to see from me in 2019, let me know in the comments below.

Christmas Collection

Hi All,

One note I keep getting from readers is that they want collections. So, I’ve put some of my favorite Christmas books into a set for the holidays. 🙂

Lucy-McConnells-Christmas-Collection-Kindle.jpg

Inside, you’ll find three full-length books. You can learn more about it below, or simply click here to start reading.

Marrying Miss Kringle: Ginger

In her quest, Ginger finds that checking a list has much more to do with her heart than it does her head.

Blue Christmas: A Snow Valley Romance

As head of Snow Valley hospital’s fundraising effort, Paisley Hackett barely has time to organize the craft show, cookie decorating party, and the annual Christmas Ball. What she doesn’t have time for is falling in love with Clay Jett, the incredibly handsome bass player who sweeps into town. The Candy Counter Heiress: An Echo Ridge Romance

Someday Reese Gates will own The Candy Counter at Kenworth’s Department Store; but someday can’t come fast enough when Kenworth’s manager threatens to bring in a national candy provider. With her ailing grandmother stressing her parents, Reese secretly takes matters into her own hands hoping to save her family from additional worry and prove herself capable of running the company.

Her deception deepens as she ropes the handsome computer guru, Andy Edwards, into helping her expand the business through an online retail site. Reese wanted to shake things up, but she wasn’t planning on her heart getting caught in the mix by Andy’s stolen kisses. If she can hold it all together until after the Christmas orders are filled, then she can reveal her successful online company to her family and finally act on her feelings for Andy.

Unfortunately for Reese, she can’t mold life like she can a chocolate Santa. Between a fire in the department store that destroys their stock and Andy discovering her deception, Reese stands to lose everything she’s been working for. With a prayer in her heart, she reaches for her own Christmas miracle.

MyHeartChannel Christmas

The-Great-Christmas-Contest-Kindle

My hands are shaking because I am so excited to share this book with you!!

The idea for The Great Christmas Contest has been in my head for over two years and it’s finally on the page. (Insert happy squeal!)

YouTube is one of my favorite sites to spend time on. I love being able to learn everything from how to change the oil in my car to creating a smoky eye for a night out on the town. The variety of videos is incredible. But, I always wonder about the people who make the videos. What are they really like? What’s life like for them on a daily basis? Do fans recognize them? And, how does love fit into all they have going on? Which is why this new series, the MyHeartChannel Romances, have been so much fun to read AND why writing The Great Christmas Contest was an absolute blast.

I have to be honest, Christmas touches my heart and I cried happy tears through most of this book while writing. 🙂 One of the best days of research was watching videos about surprise military homecomings. To see a big ol’ quarterback on a high school team or a Navy SEAL break down into tears because they are so happy to see someone they love, gets me every time. Every. Time.

I’m not going to keep you from reading. If you want to learn more about the book, check out the info below. If you’d like to pick up a copy and just get going, click here.

Happy reading,
Lucy

Marrying Miss Kringle #3 Is Now Available

Start Reading Here

Dear Reader,

Writing the Marrying Miss Kringle series is a guilty pleasure. 🙂 I adore jumping into the North Pole, talking with Santa and his family, meeting the elves, caring for the reindeer with their quirky personalities, and being swept away by the romance.

Frost’s story was especially fun because she’s over Letters and she’s glitter and bubbles and all things pretty. Her life in an ice palace may be enchanted, but she’s got a secret. Frost breaks the rules–the Kringle rules. I know, I know. You all thought Stella was the bad girl; but Frost has been sneaking around much longer than her man-crazy sister. (Gasp!) I just know you’re going to fall in love with this Kringle sister (and the whole Kringle Family) all over again in the newest installment in the Marrying Miss Kringle series–I know I did.

Happy reading,

Lucy

Marrying Miss Kringle: Frost

Frost buried her face in her hands, feeling all the pressure to save Christmas rest on her shoulders. Neither Stella nor Robyn had the potential for love yet. They were starting from scratch. But she had more than potential; she had an invitation. It was up to her to find Tannon; get him to profess his love to her; and save her family, the North Pole, and Christmas for children all over the world.

Oh, Tannon, I hope you’re ready to love me.

Frost Kringle broke one of the North Pole’s rules the day she replied to a letter from Tannon Cebu; but, her Kringle-enhanced empathy wouldn’t allow her to walk away from the anguish in his words. What began as a disobedient impulse grew into friendship and eventually love. If her secret romance is revealed, she’ll be banished from her home and family.

When the Kringle’s discover Christmas Magic is dangerously off balance, Frost musters up the courage to meet Tannon in person with the hope that they can marry and save Christmas. While she’s away from her precious Letters Room, her secret is blown right open and she’s exiled. In order to make it home for Christmas, Frost has to bring Christmas cheer to those who need it most.

Tannon, is tired of the corporate grind and wants out. He’s decided to sell his paper mill and retire to a quiet corner where he can raise his son in peace. His announcement, right before the holidays, creates an uproar as employees wonder if they’ll have a job in the New Year. No one in town feels like celebrating and they have little hope of a happy holiday.

If Frost can get Tannon, and the town of Elderberry, to believe in Christmas once again, she’ll make it home and save Santa’s workshop from turning into a block of ice and ruining Christmas for children all over the world. Trouble arises when Tannon’s interest turn to Frost more than to Christmas. She walks a tinsel-fine line between falling for him and failing in her Christmas quest.

With her whole world out of balance, Frost must look deep inside herself to bring about a Christmas miracle—with a little help from her jolly family.

12 Days of Clean Romance – Day 12 – December 16th – Cami Checketts

How to Kiss a Billionaire by Cami Checketts

Sassy meets swoon-worthy in this fast-paced contemporary romance.

Miriam Salisbury escapes to Oregon to avoid a boyfriend who won’t take no for an answer, killing her beloved cat to prove it. When her father sends Clay Browning to protect her, she’s certain he’s lost his mind. As far as she’s concerned Clay’s experience is limited to posing for the camera, charming women, and making fun of her. He’s been teasing her since they were children and she’s never gotten over the way he threw crawdads at her at church picnics.

Clay retired from the military and entered the world of private security. When he gets the call to protect Miriam he’s excited to be around his lifelong crush. As expected, he teases her nonstop and the only thing he takes seriously is her security. He knows she’d never give him a chance and he can’t help but give her a hard time.

After Miriam is dumped in the freezing ocean on a crabbing expedition and Clay saves her from drowning and freezing to death, she takes a second look at her hired gun. But opening up to him is more terrifying than facing her stalker.

As events escalate to a frenzied climax, Miriam and Clay must put aside past grudges in the hope of finding a lasting love for their future.

Praise for series:

“Cami Checketts is an expert at sending a flurry of butterflies straight to the heart! If you love the beach, a dash of suspense, and some toe-curling, swoony romance, then the Billionaire Beach Romance series is definitely for you.” Katie Watkins, Book Reviewer, Katie’s Clean Book Collection

“I LOVE these sweet romances! I love that each of them is a mini escape. You almost feel as though you’ve traveled to a warm destination even though it’s cold and snowy where you live. I love that I can pass them to either my daughter or my grandma and never have any concern about the content. And the characters in these are amazing! I love them all!” Cathy Jeppsen, Book Reviewer, My Book a Day

Miriam closed her eyes as Clay’s arms came around her and held her tight.

“Whoa, darling, if I would’ve known I’d get this reception, I would’ve broken into your house years ago.”

Miriam pushed away from him, stumbling from the realization that he hadn’t changed. Clay was a vicious flirt and never took anything seriously. She shoved at his chest, but he didn’t budge. He was real and he was here, and unfortunately for her unsteady nerves, it didn’t look like he was going away. “What are you doing here?” she demanded.

“Your daddy hired me.”

“My daddy … hired you?” She glared at him. “For what? A pinup model?”

He smiled and tilted his head to the side. “I know I look good, but I actually have a few skills in protection too.”

“You do not. All you’ve ever been good at is spending your billions of dollars and getting women to simper at your feet.” She knew he’d been in the military for four years after high school, but after that, he appeared to be the ultimate player. At least, it looked that way in the online photos she’d seen, when she’d googled him. Okay, it was pathetic that she’d googled him, but he was Clay Browning, a.k.a. Miriam’s dream man.

He spread his arms, and she couldn’t help but notice the definition from his forearms and biceps up through his shoulders and chest. Maybe he should find a shirt that wasn’t so … form-fitting. “Hey, I’ve got lots of talents. What can I say?”

Miriam pushed out a huffy breath. “You are not here. This is all some kind of crazy fantasy.”

“I know I’m the stuff fantasies are made of, but I really am here.” He sauntered a step closer, and that spicy cologne made her stomach heat up. “You want to enact some of those fantasies you’ve been having about me?”

She put a hand on his chest to keep him from coming any closer. Those muscles were real. Yikes. She dropped her hand and stepped back. “For one second, just for one, be serious. Why are you here, and how did you get in my house?”

Clay rolled his eyes and folded his arms across his chest. Sheesh. What did he do with biceps that defined? Wrestle bulls?

Focus, Miriam!

“Your daddy called me, said Greg was threatening and stalking you and I had to find you. So I found you, and now I’m here to watch over you.”

Watch over you? She would not survive with this man in the same town, let alone the same house. Her throat was dry and all those daydreams she used to have about him rotated through her mind.

“How did you get in?” she demanded.

“I told you: I have skills.” He smiled and finally admitted, “I was special ops in the Army and I’ve worked in private security since then.”

“You’re being serious now? This isn’t some bull crap line that Clay Browning is giving me?”

He smirked. “You can believe whatever you want, sweetheart.” He took a step closer, and her legs betrayed her by not backing up. “But do believe that I’m here and you I and are going to get real cozy.”

Miriam looked over his gorgeous face. She clenched her trembling hands together and swallowed hard. “I’m not one of your flavors of the week, Clay.”

He leaned in and sniffed her. “Ah. Yeah, I think you are. Vanilla with a hint of chocolate. My favorite flavor this week.”
