Meet the Frost Hawks: Power Play Pre-Order is Here

There’s something about a man on skates that makes your heart beat faster. Maybe it’s the roar in the arena, the intensity of the game, or the way a defenseman plants himself like a wall between you and the chaos. Whatever it is, hockey heroes have their own brand of swoon—and I’m so excited to introduce you to the first one in the Frost Hawks Hockey Romance series.

Meet Dave Thompson

Veteran defenseman. Single dad. Quietly magnetic.

Dave isn’t the flashy type. He doesn’t need the spotlight to make his presence felt. He’s the man who sees danger before it hits, the one who steps in before you can flinch, and the one who makes the world feel safe again. Strong, steady, instinctive—and yes, a little bit possessive in the way that makes you want to melt—Dave is the kind of hero you can lean into without fear of falling apart.

And then there’s Olivia

She’s a pediatric nurse, rebuilding her life piece by piece after heartbreak. She’s determined, independent, and stronger than she knows. What she doesn’t expect is to find a man who looks at her as if she’s already his—and who’s willing to wait until she realizes it, too.

Why This Story Will Steal Your Heart

Power Play blends the thrill of professional hockey with the warmth of a small Colorado town called Bluebell Falls. You’ll get the high-stakes intensity of the arena, the found family feels of a loyal team, and the cozy small-town backdrop that makes every romantic moment even sweeter.

Most of all, you’ll get a love story built on trust, quiet intensity, and the kind of protective devotion that leaves you swooning long after the last page.

Pre-Order Power Play Today

This is where the Frost Hawks journey begins—with a slow-burn, closed-door hockey romance you’ll want to binge.

Black Ops Tag: Mission: Harvest Ranch Wedding

I have to admit, this was a passion project. Yes, it falls within my regular genre of romance. BUT, it’s a total ROMCOM in all the best ways!

Imagine this:

Five military police continue a game of tag–only it has a Black Ops twist. Once a year they try to take one another out (i.e. land you flat on your back) in whatever way possible. Sneak attacks are encouraged!

Now imagine that one of the friends is getting married–and he’s it! The four groomsmen are out to get him and he has to hide it from his bride because:

  1. She’s running for office and her image is at stake
  2. She’s asked you to suspend the game
  3. You’re the idiot who was dumb enough to make these guys your groomsmen

Will these two make it to the church or will they be waylaid for the sake of the game?

You’ll have to read the book to find out. BUT don’t worry, I’m not leaving you in total suspense. 🙂

There’s a short story — one that shows how the bride and groom fell in love, FAST. It’s a total love-at-first kidnapping story that you’re sure to swoon over.

Meet Rudy!

Dear Reader,

Let the reindeer games begin!

It’s release day for “One Tough Christmas Cookie: The Reindeer Wrangler Ranch Christmas Romance Series Book 1” and I’m thrilled to share this book with you!

Honestly, it’s been 2 years in the making to write this book so today is joyful and triumphant.

When I was first brainstorming a spinoff series from the Marrying Miss Kringle books, I was thinking romance… tough wranglers and the women who give them a run for their money… holiday spirit… and fun. I did not think the reindeer would play a big role in all that.

Boy was I wrong.

The ReindeerWrangler Ranch has a barn full of personality. These reindeer aren’t your regular herd animal. Oh no! They are full of mischief and they cause some trouble for the Nichollas Family who watch over them. I tell you what–they became characters in the book as much as the people.

I hope you enjoy this holiday romance that’s full of Christmas Spirit. If you find yourself rooting for Rudy to make it to the North Pole, for Dunder to get well, and for Caleb and Faith to open their hearts, then you know you’re ready for Ol’ St. Nick to slide down the chimney.

Merry Christmas Reading,

Fall Romance–Love those pumpkins!

Hello Readers!

I have been totally geeking out about Fall this year. I think it’s because I’m so excited about this new series of Fall-inspired romances.

The town of Harvest Ranch is a fantastic place to live and raise kids–it’s also a great place to fall in love. 🙂

One of the things I loved about writing this book was imagining the Fall colors and the scenery. Pumpkins are one of my favorite decorations! We have a large plot of land that’s not being used and I want to grow 100 pumpkins on it next year to put all over my yard and share with neighbors. It’s gonna be epic!

If you love sweaters and cute boots, hot cocoa and cinnamon toast, then you’re going to ADORE this book!

Reviewers are already chiming in and they love it.

“I loved the plot of this one. And the fall theme! Sigh…it’s perfect!” ~MyBookaDay

“This was a pleasant, lighthearted read which brightened my day and really put me in the mindset of fall and harvest time. It made me want to curl up in a blanket with a cup of hot cocoa, but it’s too hot for that where I live.” ~Beauer

Happy reading,

Lucy

Her Awkward Blind Date with the Billionaire

Dear Reader,

Have you ever been on a blind date? I’ve heard stories of people who have met the love of their life of blind dates but I don’t know anyone personally who enjoys them. 🙂

Her-Awkward-Blind-Date-with-the-Billionaire-KindleA horrible blind date was the inspiration for this book. And by horrible, I mean the kind of blind date that makes you want to hide if you see the person walking down the street.  But, what if you had to see them again? What if circumstances beyond your control brought you together again and again. And what if, in those chance encounters, you started to see the real person on the other side of that mortifying experience–and he wasn’t so bad.

Each of us strives to put out best self out there and to make good impressions. But the best of us isn’t the shiny hair or the long eye lashes, it’s our hearts.

I’ll bet you have a beautiful heart!

I hope you enjoy Her Awkward Blind Date with the Billionaire new release!

Happy reading,
Lucy

Her Beast of a Billionaire Boss is Available!

Dear Reader,

Many, many months ago, I joined up with several authors for a new series. We met in Seattle, Washington, for an intense planning meeting and research trip. We had a great time touring the town and eating delicate chocolates as we planned out a neighborhood of billionaires. Yep, a whole neighborhood. But this neighborhood is unlike any out there. It’s a playground for the ultra-wealthy. They build homes that fit their personalities and live on 20+ acres of land. They have 24/7 security. And, a private landing strip for their planes.

This is us in front of the “Gum Wall.” We were trying so hard no tot touch it!

Well, fast forward several months and it’s release week for my new book. I have been waiting and waiting for this book to release and the anticipation was killing me Thankfully, I can finally celebrate with you.

Bringing it together

Writing this book was a beautiful experience. I’ve had the idea for a lawyer Beast who lives in a castle on the coast since I saw the live action Beauty and the Beast movie. However, as life often happens, being able to write this book didn’t happen on my time. Now that it’s ready, though, I see how it all came together and I’m so happy I waited. This is how it starts out.

Just outside the city of Seattle, a castle sits on a cliff overlooking Puget Sound. The Chateau has perched there since a French prince was removed to the wilds of America for loving the wrong woman. However, the prince was not one to hide in the shame forced upon him. He built himself a grand castle on a large estate, where he raised a happy family and amassed a considerable fortune.

Years went by, and the castle and the land passed from one generation to another until it reached the prince’s great-great-grandson, Adam Moreau, a corporate lawyer who was known for tearing apart his competition in the courtroom. His grandfather had taken the considerable fortune and turned it into ridiculous wealth, which meant young Adam wanted for nothing—nothing but the opportunity to prove himself a Moreau in every sense of the name. Unfortunately, as the coffers grew with each generation, the love that had brought the family to the rocky cliffside dwelling dwindled, and Adam was left with the incorrect assumption that love is a weakness. After all, a lawyer couldn’t afford sentimentality. His cunning ways and fierce legal attacks earned him many nicknames, but only one lasted the test of time: the Beast.

Our story begins on a cold and drizzly winter Washington day when even the brilliant colors of changing leaves have been pushed aside by a muted overcast sky and gloominess. Adam, in a move prompted purely by the increase in his financial standing, has subdivided a portion of the family estate and turned it into an exclusive development for billionaires called The Cove. As all but three of the lots have sold and the eclectic group of homes nears completion, he’d like to open Phase II. However, local politicians are hesitant to allow the rezoning of some of the city’s longtime wooded areas.

At the suggestion of his Public Relations Advisor, Adam invites Seattle’s most influential people, including the mayor, the city council, and the members of the zoning commissioning, into his castle for lunch. He’s counting on wooing them with fine foods and perhaps intimidating them with the heavily guarded gate into The Cove, the solid stone castle walls, and his own reputation as the nation’s most formidable attorney. If all goes well, the provincials will leave their doubts and Phase II may begin posthaste. For who could ever resist the Beast?

Meet Bella Creer

Woman in front of airplane

Bella Creer approached the hospital bed, not wanting to wake up her father but needing to see his chest rise and fall with her own eyes. Her Superman looked old. Gray whiskers graced his lined cheeks, and his pale skin was sallow in the dim light. He stirred and took a deep breath before opening his eyes. “Bella,” he rasped.

She reached for the cup on the side table and offered him a drink. The water went down with a large gulp and he sighed with relief, licking his dry lips. She’d stop by the gift shop and find some ChapStick for him before coming back up. “Hey, Dad.”

He reached for her hand. “I’m in trouble, baby girl.”

“No, Dad,” she hurried to reassure him. “The doctor says your heart is going to be fine.”

“No.” He chuckled weakly. “I’m in trouble at work.”

She leaned closer. “Dad, work is hardly your main concern right now. Let’s just worry about getting you better.”

“Listen to me. I’m under contract to finish The Cove on time, or I’ll lose everything.” Dad sank deeper into his pillows.

“What do you mean, everything?”

“I’ve poured everything into this contract and agreed to wait for payment until the project is complete. And if I don’t finish on time, I don’t get paid.”

Bella gasped. “That’s how you beat the other firms.”

He nodded slightly, the movement crinkling the pillow. “You have to finish it for me.” His grip on her hand tightened. “You’re the only one I trust.”

“Dad—I can’t just—” She cut off. Ten hours ago, she had several reasons she couldn’t drop everything and run up to The Cove. Ten hours ago, she had a fiancé and a third-tier job as an assistant legal clerk. Dad had worked on this project for a couple of years; it was in the background of her life but near the center of his. She should have paid more attention—especially when he went to work for the Beast. The man ran in a completely different circle, a circle that was so far out of her reach it might as well have been on Pluto.

Could she just up and quit? She hadn’t even bothered to call the office and tell them why she hadn’t come back from lunch. In truth, the work was boring and the people were cold. Leaving would be a relief.

Her heart fluttered at the idea of taking over the multibillion-dollar project. If she put her nose to the grindstone and didn’t look up for twenty years, she may still never have the chance to take on a project like this one. And to be able to say she worked for Adam Moreau? That was huge for a résumé. Any law firm in the country would look twice—his reputation was stellar. She’d have to Google him to learn more—all she really knew of him was that she should run the other way if ever his name was opposite hers on a case.

Her eyes fell on her father, who could hardly keep his eyes open. All the reasons she should do this for herself paled in comparison to doing it for her father. He’d given up the fast lane when her mother died so she’d have a parent home at night to help with her science projects and pack a lunch in the morning. He’d made a good life for them, one full of love and mental challenge. He was her champion, and this was an opportunity to be a champion for him.

“I’ll do it.” She pressed a kiss to his forehead. “You get some rest and know that I’ll take care of everything.”

Blog Hop

Blog tag is a fun way to connect with other bloggers. If we are tagged, we answer a set of questions and then tag someone else. It’s fun to follow along and see how different authors write, what they write, and what they are working on. I was tagged by friend and fellow author Cami Checketts. Cami writes clean romantic suspense and is a wonderful, wonderful person. Her latest book, Shadows in the Curtain, had me sleeping with the lights on.

Now, on to the questions!

1. What are you working on?

Ah, see that’s the most fun question to ask an author. If you sit down next to an author at a dinner or event, asking them what they’re working on is sure to bring a smile to their face because we authors love to talk about our latest project.

I am working on a bride series. They are sweet romances with a wild premise. The first book is nearly done, the second book is drafted, and the third book needs a major overhaul. But, the women in this series are educated, vivacious, and daring. I’ve loved throwing them into these relationships and shaking up their worlds.

So this is the perfect moment to reveal the cover of my first Billionaire Marriage Brokers  book. I love the colors and the fonts! I’ll let you know more about the book itself in an upcoming post. In the mean time – back to the blog hop.

Janell Book 1 Front Cover

2. How does your work differ from other books in this genre?

Often, when I tell people I write clean romance, they ask, “Is there such a thing?” I assure them that there is a whole world of wonderful, clean romances out there. What sets mine apart, is the humor. My characters find themselves in crazy situations – like getting married on accident or in the middle of a frosting fight at a cookie decorating contest.

3. Why do you write what you do?

Because I love it. When I first started writing, I shied away from the fun stories, thinking I had to be serous if authors and readers were going to take me seriously. I’ve realized that there’s not enough fun out there in the world. The people around me (and me too) are so busy that we rarely get to have fun. For me, that had to change. Not only have I enjoyed writing clean romance, I’ve been rock climbing, wake boarding, and I like to ride my bike. I know, it’s called “cycling,” but that’s the big, grown up word for it. I just like to get out there on the bike and ride around. It’s fun.

4. What’s your writing process?

I usually come up with a premise first. Like: woman falls into ocean, is snagged by a fishing net, cuts her way free, and falls in love with the angry fisherman. Okay, that was officially awful, but you get the idea. 🙂 A lot of times I ask a “what if” question. For The Godmother Chronicles, I wondered about those fairy godmothers. Did they have a life of their own? Were they allowed to fall in love? And, were there limitations…all magic comes with a price.

Once I have a premise, I gather scenes. This is just brainstorming. I have things I want characters to say to each other, feelings they need to explore, and situations that would make them stretch and grow. Once I have those figured out, I write my first draft. There’s a long editing process that happens before the book is ready. When it’s all done, I love publication day. I wish I had a ritual, like taking myself out to lunch or eating a pint of my favorite ice cream. Usually, I just walk around with a stupid grin on my face for a day or so and then jump right in to the next book. 🙂

Where are we headed to next? We’re going to hop on over to Taylor Hart’s blog. She writes  amazing clean romances. You’ll find her here: http://www.taylorhartbooks.com
